tHe viking
robert Winborne was a good man. One day he went into space but crashed. He was on Mars and was really scared. He had all supplies except for food and water. He made a robot out of the supplies and sent it out of the crashed ship since he was to scared to. It came back with important information and with no signs of life. Then he wasn’t scared to go out of the ship. He went out on top of one of the many cliffs on Mars, sent a signal to Earth and was rescued by another ship. He named the robot Viking because of it’s bravery.

olivias blog assignment 4
YOu should program a robot on mars to find informaton. Once, the robot Viking was sent to Mars and was programed to move around mars. There was a reason it was sent up there. It had to get information on a Meteorite that was coming towards Mars. after a week, the robot was destroyed. The experiment failed. it was a sad day for NASA. question: If you program a robot it will (mostly) do what you want it to do so scientist can program a robot and make it do what they want it to do on a planet.

Life on Mars
If there was a comet that hit earth and it had a squished alien on it then it could be possible that there is actually more life-form in space. That lifeform is probably on Mars because water has been found on Mars. So NASA would give The Viking another mission to land of Mars and follow a path that would lead to a soft spot on Mars. Once The Viking hit that spot it could dig deep down into the depths of Mars. It could then see if there was enough water to sustian life. If there was then it would be a known fact that aliens exist.

A story about Viking
Well one time, when Olivia and I were working on the 4 meters, we had programmed viking to do a turn in the middle, and continue again. But for some strange reason, Viking only moved about an inch, then stopped. Then continued again, this time for about 3 inches, then he went again, and he stopped for a really long time. We were so frustrated, we just had to walk away for a few minutes, and when we came back, we was spinning…it was kinda freaky…….

Mallory Viking 2
I thought that traveling 4m in a straight line was harder than I thought it would be. It took us a lot of tries. One problem we encountered was that our robot would end up going at weird #’s like 2.2 and stuff. We only had a couple of even numbers. The variable that determines how far the robot will travel is the duration amount. The variable that determines how fast it travels is the power level.

One problem me and Jeremy face was that viking would was go pass the marker. Viking wold also go in circles. To make your robot faster you would put more power. To control the distance of your robot you change rotations and duration.

Doing 4 meters
When we programmed Viking, we experienced many obstacles. First, we couldn’t get the right duration and power, so it took a lot of tries and different help to discover the right dimensions. That is why it took so long and was so difficult.

blog assignment 2
Hannah and I (olivia) faced some problems in this blog assignment. our robot wouldn’t finish in the right direction after its big turn. We had to re- program it after another group “lost” it. By the end of class it was all good. We put 5000 as our power!!!!! I never knew what duration meant how far the robot went and i knew that power was how fast it went. i learned how to program the robot and add sounds and make it turn. this is a fun topic!!!
