Story

9th February - Submitted by bcwlovett15

Once upon a time, there was a robot named Tharis. He was going to go into space. So, he rolled over to his programmer and said, “What would you like me to do when I am in space?” His programmer told him that he should roll around Mars and take photos. So, his programmer took him to the space launcher and was about to make him lift off when Tharis exclaimed, “No, you have to plug me in first, and put the things you want me to do in the computer and then upload it to my hardrive.” “If you don’t, I won’t do the things you want me to do.”

When NASA launched the rover to mars it was almost there when suddenly it vanished into thin air. There were no robots left so they came to us to ask for Tharsis

So NASA needed to use Tharsis for a mission to Mars. We allowed them to do so. While Tharsis was up on Mars it collected many different types of data. It was up on mars for a long time. When it was about to leave it discoveredthe first life on Mars.

That brought the creaters lots of fame so when the robot came back the government rewarded us with billions of dollars$$$$$$$$$$$$$.THE END!!!

You need to always program a robot/rover to do anything. You could build a amazing robot and not be able to program it. What’s the point of that?. Here’s my story:

Once upon a time there was a contest at NASA to see who could build a robot for a mars mission.
Everyone had made incredible real life mars rovers. But then James came in and farted. There was a Nuclear explosion. Then, taking drastic measures, NASA went to our classroom and used tharsis. They needed to program it. They did and the mission was a complete success. They payed all the tharsis creators(us) and gave us 40 billion dollars. The End.

So far Tharsis has been a wonderful robot. At first my group and I had a little trouble then it got a lot easier. Programing the robot was not very difficult it was just hard to understand what to do with it then I learned how to program correctly. My group has only tested twice and it has been very good as planned our first test it went perfectly and we had no trouble, but our seconed one went in to many circles but we fixed that. Tharsis has a very evil laugh though that we programed into it my group laughs a lot and we have so much fun. Tharsis is a very good moving robot

Blog Assighnmet 2 (second)

Thrisis went in a straight line for 4 meters eventuly but me and my partners were haveing some traouble makeing it go straight because the back weel was makeing the robot veer to the left causeing it to go over the meater stick. We changed the power and that solved the problem. The duration amount is how far the robot will travel and the power is how fast the robot will go.

It is easier to make the robot go backwards and instead of durations do seconds.

assignment #2

22nd January - Submitted by crslovett15

My experience thus far has been kind of frustrating because of how long it takes. Making our robot go 4m exactly was kinda of hard at first but when we saw how far it went we adjusted the duration. The amount of rotation duration makes the robot go farther and the speed depends on the power. WE have changed the power, duration and what makes it go straight or turn.

Tharsis Experience

21st January - Submitted by bcwlovett15

Summarize your experience thus far with creating programs that enable your robot to travel 4 meters in a straight line.  Was it hard or easy?  What challenges/obstacles did you encounter?  What have you learned about the variables that you have changed thus far (power, duration amount, duration type, direction, etc…)?  What variable determines how far the robot will travel?  What variable determines how fast the robot will travel?

So far my experience with Tharsis has been fairly moderate. One of the challenges that came up was the challenge of trying to get him to go around in circles. It took a while to figure how were supposed to do that correctly. I learned that our group has to try and keep the numbers of the power, duration amount, duration type, and direction low. Duration amount determines how long the robot will travel and power determines how fast it will travel.

My Tharsis Programming Experience

21st January - Submitted by wlrlovett15

My experience with tharsis programming has been pretty easy. Programming it to go 4 meters wasn’t really hard.  One challenge was trying to find a way for it to go straight( it wasn’t built right). I learned that you need power for speed and durations for distance. Durations is more important, whether you want duration amount( which should be a ton) or duration type( rotations). Direction is important too. Power is used for speed and durations is used for distance.
