Chocolate Milk 2: The Rover(blog#40)

12th February - Submitted by acmlovett15

The rover, Chocolate Milk 2 (CM2) ran into a hill. The sensor was not on so the scientists had to program it to go backward and turn. even though the scientists always were around robots and knew the programing inside and out, we had to double check it before we sent it to CM2 so it wouldn’t be damaged. They got it nearly correct. Ever so close. It did no harm to the programing, but CM2 got a deep scratch.

The next move the astronomers made would be close. There had to be little duration and heavy rotation. If CM2 moved to much it would knock out one of its cameras. They decided to go with 1 duration and 85 speed and a 90 degree angle. It worked CM2 got through harmlessley. The next obsticle was not so easy. It would have to go 10 meters of rock terrain to get across to a crater the astronomers wanted to examine from CM2′s eyes. The suspense was on.

In the middle of the path to the crater was a meteorite 15 meters wide so they had to take it in small steps. First, straight for one meter and stop. Second, turn right go a meter and stop. Then go straight two meters to get past the meteorite and finish with going slowly, but surley to the crater. The rocky terrain was behind CM2. The task was accomplished, and the crater looked like it contained some methane (more to discover…).

THE END

4 meter conclusion

12th February - Submitted by mwwlovett15

In my group we made many different hypothesis’s before starting. The first hypothesis we made was to put the power on 25. Next we realized that that was not enough power so we changed it and made it 35. This was almost the perfect amount and we moved to the next challenge quickly……… While trying to beat the first challenge,”ravi” (our robot) was having some technical difficulties. The back wheel of Ravi was making him turn to the right side every time he started moving.. This is when we got Cross on the scene and he fixed Ravi right up. We have a 3 person group which helps to get things done when we have a problem… :)

Blog #2 (again)

11th February - Submitted by vrclovett15

Sorry I wrote the wrong title for the blog I just posted! When our robot did the 4 meters it took 3 times but a lot of thinking. Our first hypothesis was If the robot is programed with 30 power and 50 duration amount then the robot will travel 4 meters in a straight line because it is the most information at this time. That didn’t work out because we were using the wrong file on the robot. Our last hypothesis was If the robot is programed with 15 power and 75 duration amount then the robot will go 4 meters because it will travel straight. It finally worked!

Blog Assignment #2

11th February - Submitted by vrclovett15

Our robot took nine times to make the circle perfectly.  Our robot’s first hypothesis was if the robot is programmed with 15 power and 75 duration then the robot will go in a full circle because the wheel will turn. We had to make eight more tries but then we finally got  tusing this hypothesis  if the robot is programmed with 50 power and 75 duration then it will go in a full circle because it will not stop early.

My groups hypothesis for the 4 meters is that the power is a 70 and the time is at 6 sec.  This would work because the power and time will be right.  This is good training for outdoors because we will need to complete challenges  I can’t wait for the next challenge.

Ravi Mars Mission

10th February - Submitted by bmmlovett15

The seniro that my robot would be in is it is traveling though space and is going to land and I need to program the landing. I would program the parachutes to open when the probe enters the atmosphere. Then when it gets 100 ft to the ground the airbags would inflate. At 20 ft to the ground it would let go of the parachutes. Now it is about to land and bounce and come to a stop.

My robot would be able video tape and be able to send it back to earth in 24 hours. Mission control-which is where I would be-would be able to bluetooth programs to mars and then to ravi. Ravi would be able to sense how ruged the train is and choose the best path. Ravi would litlerly be a super computer on wheels.

He could also blow up a raft and slide down hills to move faster. On flat ground he could be a hover craft and float around. Ravi could go any were, i predict he could last for ten years on mars! Thats a really long time. Just like Spirt and Oppurtunity.  That is my dream of ravi!

Ravi Story

10th February - Submitted by jlblovett15

It was a cold winter day on Mars. The robot Ravi Vallis was just chilling, and taking pictures of the planet. Then, suddenly a shooting star was going straight for Olympus Mons, the largest volcano in the solar system. Ravi thought that if this volcano blew up, then the entire solar system would be history.

Ravi took action. He sent an automatic message to NASA headquarters stating the situation. Ravi Vallis also told them that due to his intelligence he knew exactly what to do. He would make over one million prototypes of himself to surround Olympus Mons, and when the shooting star came near, all of the robots would jump up and sacrifice themselves in order to save the largest volcano in the solar system.

So, finally the star was about one thousand feet away, and all of the Ravi Valli’s jumped up., the star crashed into them , and it disappeared into space. Ravi Vallis had saved the day for all of the creatures of the universe. After Ravi was done, he partied with all of the aliens on Mars. What a great day!

story

9th February - Submitted by rcslovett15

It was a hot day on mars and I was starting to rust as I worked to melt the ice that was just under the surface. This is a very messy but necessary to the colony that I work for. By the way did I mention we live on mars!! We are the first human colony on another planet. The best thing is that if me and my robot friends didn’t discover this water on mars.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was built to find life on mars I was equipped with the latest technology like infer red sensors  and a sensor that let me see like the humans. I was traveling when my sensors picked  up  a rock so I navigated around it . As I did this  I barely hit it and I flipped over.

Luckily I had my arm to lift me up. I got up and my life detecter started ringing and I turned to face the rock and it wasn’t a rock it was an Ice burg. That is how I found water on mars.

Story For Ravi Vallis’s Trip To Mars

9th February - Submitted by mbplovett15

Ravi Vallis is making an immediate trip to Mars because there is an asteroid that has come out of the asteroid belt and it is heading for earth. This asteroid is very big and the atmosphere will not be able to burn it up so Ravi Vallis is going to have to go up into space and destory the asteroid. Ravi Vallis is going to fly to Mars and land there and from there burn up the asteroid. The asteroid is going to be destroied by Ravi Vallis’s tail. Ravi Vallis’s tail is 17 million times the size of a Brachchiosaurus’s tail. His tail needs to be really big and fat so we are going to make Ravi Vallis eat 17 million moon pie’s. The moon pies are not fat free and we have loaded it with protein and 30 gallons of fat in between the moon pies.

Today at 3:00 am Ravi Vallis left for Mars. It will take him 3 hours to land on Mars. We have attached his eyes onto him so that he can see all of the rocks and to look at the asteroid.  As he lands on Mars, he sees the huge asteroid. He is all set to blow the asteroid up but he still has to eat 5 million more moon pies. He has to eat them all because his tail wont be big enough. Later: he has eaten all of the moon pies and now he is ready to fire his tail. He only has one shot to hit it or else the world will blow up because his tail will shrink back to normal size then shrivel into a pile of dust looking like a penut.  The penut will be under sized and have no wrinkles.

HE DID IT! Ravi Vallis has hit the asteroid with his tail. But luckly his tail lived. He has now become the largest robot with a tail ever! The earth was saved all because of his huge tail. To destroy the tail they has to cut it open and let all the moon pies and fat come out. it is a dirty mess.  But everything is saved because of this robot!

Blog #4: Ravi Vallis on Mars

9th February - Submitted by vrclovett15

Finally, after working very hard on the Ravi Vallis for a matter of weeks we, the Ravi Vallis period five team had the robot ready to go up to Mars. Our mission was to go up to Mars and send down picture from the camera we had installed onto him. Also, we wanted to see how he reacted to his surroundings and bring us back a sample of the ground for us to study.

We strapped him in his little spacecraft and hoped him the best. We also installed a video camera in the spacecraft so we could keep an eye on the little trouble maker. He seemed to love his surroundings but he kept on looking towards Earth as though he missed us. The truth is, we missed him too. We,finally, after two weeks saw him start packing everything  in the space craft and strapping himself in for the adventureous ride home.

Our robot, the Ravi Vallis had always been mischievious but we never thought he would go as far as to do what he almost did. That michevious little rascal went as far as to program the space craft to go to Earth’s moon! Thankfully, we had a brand new gadget called the interperator that interperted our language to robot talk so we gave the Ravi Vallis a earfull about the joke and how it wasn’t funny and blah blah blah. The Ravi Vallis finally lifted off from Mars heading to Earth. Mission to Mars is completed.
