Opportunity On Mars
If Opportunity wants to go to Mars it is going to need some serious training. We need to make sure that it will not malfunction during the middle of the mission. We also need to rebuild it so that it can survive the Martian winters and summers. To test for that we will put into a freezer for a certain amout of days and see if it will still run. We will also make sure that it will still work if it is hot. We will make sure that it will work by putting it in an onven for a certain amout of time and see if it still works.
We will then need to put sensors on. We will have to try out each sencor to make sure that it works. We would test the sound touch sensor so if it is about to hit something that it won’t stay there. It will back up and turn around. We will also need to put some sort of containing device so Opportunity can grab a martian rock and put it in the container. We might have to mount a camera so we can see where Opportunity is.
We are also need to make sure that it can send the information to mission control. We are gonna have to put something on it so it will send information to a satelite and then the satelite will send it back to us.

Success on the Circle
If the power is 84 and the duration is 18 then the robot should touch all of the ten tape pieces because if we increase the duration and power it will work. Our hypothesis did work. My partner and i are so happy that we finished the circle and we will be moving on to the maze like everybody else. SUCCESS!!!

The Circle has been Completed!!!
We are so happy that Opportunity has finished the circle. Now we’re on to the maze. Before I leave I am going to tell you the duration and power we used.

Opportunity meets Wall-e
“Opportunity, I don’t think it’s safe to go near Victoria Crater. You might fall in,” said Spirit. “Oh stop being a scaredy-rover. I just want to see what it looks like. Besides I was suppose to do it weeks ago.” “Okay, but you better not fall in, because I am not going in to save your life,” announced Spirit. “Opportunity, hello. Opportunity where are you?” “Help me Spirit I’ve fallen in, if you don’t help me the heat will burn up my metal cover, help” screamed Opportunity. “Don’t worry Opportunity I am coming.” As Spirit ran over to help Opportunity, he got more and more desperate for her help. When Opportunity felt Spirits cold metal hook he quickly grabbed it, but Opportunity’s weight (including his 6 wheels) was to much for Spirit to handle. Therefore, Spirit had fallen in along side Opportunity, but Opportunity had grabbed hold of an indented rock that let him find a way out of the crater. As soon as he got out he turned around to help Spirit but she wasn’t there.
“Oh my good golly gosh! What have I done. I should have just listened to Spirit, then none of this would’ve of ever happened. Huh, Huh, Huh,” Opportunity cried. “Are you okay,” a voice out of no where said. “Who said that ?” ” Over here. Hi, my name’s Wall-e. Sorry if this is too personal, but why were you crying?” “Oh well, my best friend throughout the whole entire galaxy just fell into Victoria Crater and I will never be able to see her again.” “Well I am really sorry, but I would be glad to be your new best friend and I could help you learn how to finally explore Victoria Crater,” said Wall-e. ” You would do that for me.” “Of course I will, besides it’ll be fun!”
As the days went by Wall-e helped Opportunity train for days. Wall-e had Opportunity climb up mountains and through cracks. For it was easy since Opportunity had a lot of traction. Wall-e also gave some advice that he should try to only travel on rocks instead of sand to prevent slippage. Finally, Opportunity went in
the crater. He first had to get past Emma Dean a smaller crater but was able to complete that voyage. Even though Opportunity might not return for weeks, months, or even years. Wall-e still visited the crater every day hoping that soon Opportunity would come back.

Straight Line for Four Meters
If the power and duration are changed to 50 and 23 then the robot will complete the four meters because the duration was decreased a little so it will not go about 5 centimeters ahead of the ending line. We never wanted to change the 50 power because we thought that it was perfectly in the middle. So we kept on playing with the duration. When we saw that 25 duration was too much and 20 duration was not enough we put it in the middle and it was perfect.

Circle
If our power is 54 and our rotations is 20 then it should complete the circle and touch all of the tape because it was different from all of our other programs. I was wondering what some of the Opportunity groups did to complete their circle. MH and my main problem is making the robot turn the right amount and touch all of the pieces. The things that we have been trying to make it go is increasing the power. We think that if we make it go faster it might turn harder. We also have been making the turn harder. If we make it turn harder then Opportunity will stop missing the 4th and 5th pieces of tape.

Loud Circle
My partner and I are trying to complete the circle. Our hypothesis is that if the power is at 70 and the robot runs for 16 seconds then we will not need the turn to be very sharp because the power is not very strong. We tried several times but we had to change the power because the robot was over shooting the circle. Our final result was with our power at 65 and our turn slight for 15 seconds and it hit every part of the circle.

Opportunity on Mars
Our robot Opportunity is ready for Mars. To prepare for Mars we will make sure our robot can withstand hot and cold tempratures since Mars’s tempratures vary a lot. We will also need to put different types of sensors on it. One type will be heat sensors so that if it gets to hot or cold the robot will need to go somwhere else. Another type of sensor will be a sensor so the robot will know if it’s going to get caught in a crater or if it is too much of an incline.
On Mars our robot will be able to tell us the climate, the temprature and lanscape. If we are luckey then when on Mars our robot will be able to find sighns of water. Getting this information on Mars will help humans to figure out if life is really possible on Mars.
Right now our robot is up on Mars with the help of Spirit who is the other rover on Mars. Our robot landed bouncing along the surface of Mars in giant Baloons. We landed in a sandy dessert like climate. Our partner Spirit landed in a rockey and rugged terrain. The robots were only supposed to last a couple of months but they have lasted five years and are still roving Mars.

Loud Line
My partner and I recently completed the straight line with our robot and are working on the circle.
We are testing the angles that we need our robot to run to complete the full circle. on our first try we came very close but could not figure it out again. If you have any suggestions please post them up.
