Assignment #4

9th February - Submitted by ctclovett15

A robot/rover would be needed on Mars or in space if there was a problem. An example is if there was something wrong with the planet scientists could program the robot to fix it. Also, if there was life on Mars then scientists could begin research with the information the robot or rover would be picking up.

One day in 1950 NASA put a robot on Mars (The Mars Rover). It found a bounch of aliens and took photos but when it throw a Mars rock at one of the aliens one jumped on The Mars Rover and destroyed it.

That night they cooked the the robot and ate it because they new it would hurt Earth because it cost so much money.

Assignment #4

5th February - Submitted by chjlovett15

It was the year 1950, when the U.S. was determined to put a robot, or man on the moon. The U.S. wanted to test it on a robot first. The space people didn’t have the technology to control it remotely though. so they would have to program it so when it found something it would turn on a camera to take video.

Well the day came when it was time for launch. Five days and the robot would be on Mars. The robot got there, and immediately was greeted by what is thought to be dancing aliens. The robot turn off it’s camera, and BANG. The robot was shot by the aliens “laser” (Dr. Evil reference)  gun, and the robot was never see since.

Assignment 4

The mars rover sent a picture back to earth of an alien. The mars rover has to pick up mars rocks 5 meters away and throw them at the alien, with 100 p0wer and then roll away., turning left to hide behind a rock. Sadly, the alien happened to be in a bad mood, so he steped on the rover. This cost Nasa 4.5 billion dollars

Assignment #2

28th January - Submitted by jrklovett15

Making the robot travel in a straight line was prertty easy once I found how many rotations were in four meters. the only challenge that I encountered was the robot hitting the meter sticks while it was moving. I learned that the power variable only changes how fast the robot moves, while the duration amount changes how long or far it travels.

Will P’s Expedition

It has been difficult with changing everything like duration and speed but after a while you get the hang of it. We try to make it turn 90 degrees and make it go into a full circle. We made the 4 meters on our 4th try so that didn’t take so long and the 90 degree angle in 2 tries but were a little stuck on the circle so it is kinda difficult if we make the duration decrease it changed by a big amount and we can’t see how to get it perfect. It is really fun working with the robots like the sensers. We have to change power sometimes because it has to much and something goes wrong. It is very cool how you can change the direction on a laptop I thought it would be more difficult. I love this new and interesting experiment. The variable that controls distance is the rotations and the variable that controls speed is the power.

Working with the robots is an amazing experience. How many people can say that they built and programed a robot?! I like working with my partener because we get along really well. It wasnt vety hard toget they robot to travel four meters, but we did have to try it alot of different times!! :) The speed/power makes a big difference because it determines how fast the robot actually goes. The rotations are also important because they determine how far the robot goes, which acheives our goal.

My expierence with robotics- Expedition

21st January - Submitted by kahlovett15

My expierence with robots has been so much fun. All though sometimes working with a partner can be hard, sometimes you dont agree. Although i love working with my partner. One of my foavorite things to do is when you’ve accomplished something and you have to do it another way, thats when your creativity kicks in.   So in the end , so far my expierence with robotics has been great!   Oh and all robot “ownwers” of robot expedition you can make him talk and make him say orange please dorothy and i do that all the time it is so much time!

Assignment #2

21st January - Submitted by chjlovett15

My experience with the robotics unit has gotten me more familiar with robots and what they are capable of. Creating the four meter line was not all that hard for me, my partner for my period and I had a fairly easy time figuring out the right combination. We took about four or five tries to figure out the right speed and rotations. We would either do to many rotations and to little power, to much power and to little rotations, or we wouldn’t even go very far at all. We also had a challenge getting our robot straight while on the four meters so we couldn’t get an exact measurement. I have learned to have more rotations, and less power while on the four meter track. stay stationary while on the 90º turn, and we haven’t even completed the one meter circle so I don’t know. The variable that determines how far the robot goes is rotations, and how fast it goes is speed.
